Our technicians have the licences required by the Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC). To install split system air-conditioners ARC requires a restricted licence; and to install other systems ARC requires a full Refrigeration & Air-conditioning licence. Licensed work is safe, legal and will ensure your warranty isn’t voided. The Curran Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Air team can provide technicians qualified to wire in units or, if needed, to connect the air-conditioner drain to the wastewater system.

Installation costs and what’s involved

Curran Electrical’s policy is to provide upfront pricing to customers before commencing the air-conditioner service.

Our fee for an air-conditioning installation covers:

the cost of the chosen air-conditioning unit
our technician’s labour and materials for the air-conditioning installation
related essential work, such as work on piping and interconnecting cables; ducting; or upgrading the meter board with a dedicated circuit
testing the unit after installation
removal and disposal of any older unit.

Installation costs may vary, depending on the chosen system, the number of units installed, the area covered by the system, plus existing electrical issues that impact installation.

Systems with smart features such as sensors, eco-modes, Wi-Fi and app compatibility may have additional costs.

Choosing a cost-effective system that saves you more in reduced energy bills over the long term may involve a unit with a more expensive initial purchase price.

Costs for servicing

We can provide annual servicing for an additional fee.
Servicing cost may also depend on the condition of the unit, the age of the model and whether it has been maintained regularly.
Duct-based systems may involve extra costs if the ducts need cleaning.

How often do air-conditioners need servicing?

The Curran team recommends that your air-conditioner is serviced at least annually. Other factors include: the type of unit, the model and how it is used.

If your air-conditioner works hard cooling in summer and heating in winter, it helps to maintain it twice a year – schedule services before the start of the hot season and the start of the cold season.

The air-conditioner service will involve:

Test refrigerant levels
Test air temperature
Check, clean and replace filters
Check and clear outside units of debris such as leaf litter
Clean interior vents
Clean fans
Check pipes
Clean ducts, if a duct-based system
Check remote controls and timers are working.

They were on time. They rung before coming as they said they would. They explained what they were doing before they started doing the work. They show me what they did and made sure everything was working efficiently before leaving.

I found the guys at Curran Electrical and Plumbing to be great, they were open really friendly and helpful. They did the job on time with no mess. I also found them to be honest. I thought I had to replace two lights in the bathroom however while installing the new ones we found another switch so I did not need them replaced after all and the quote was adjusted to reflect this.

Curran Plumbing & Electrical recently installed a new pump on my rainwater tank. I am very pleased with their work and also that they were able to do it within a few days of getting their quote.
