Curran Plumbing has partnered with KidzWish, a South Coast based children’s charity, for a second year, providing sponsorship funding support plus a pretty special profile-raising vehicle – the Curran Plumbing KidzWish van. For every callout of the van, Curran Plumbing gives a $10 donation to KidzWish.
The company originally came on board as a sponsor in 2019, aware that the KidzWish foundation’s programs were actively making a difference to disadvantaged and disabled children in the South Coast area.
According to Curran Plumbing’s Sid Curran, as a South Coast based business, they could physically see the benefits that KidzWish brings to the lives of local sick and disadvantaged kids. Sponsoring KidzWish now means they can all witness their donations doing good, and, says Sid, “The more we can contribute the better”.
Vanning up
In support of the KidzWish charity, Curran Plumbing has provided sponsorship funds, people to help at KidzWish events and an extra special contribution: the colourful Curran van emblazoned with the KidzWish logo.
As KidzWish General Manager Julie Gemmell explains, “Every time a family calls Curran Plumbing and asks for the ‘KidzWish Plumbing Van’, a further $10 donation goes to the KidzWish foundation, which is channelled back to the community by way of us delivering our programs.”
The bright logo has made the busy plumbing van popular with children in the South Coast, Illawarra and Sutherland Shire regions where Curran Plumbing operates. Julie believes, “Children are fascinated with the colours of the Curran Plumbing van. Children prefer brighter colours from an early age as they strive to make sense of their environments. The Curran Plumbing van serves its purpose by associating fun and enjoyment with the KidzWish image on the local plumber’s van.”
Programs for Kidz
Curran Plumbing staff have been involved with many events and programs that the company’s donations help to fund.
Julie is very appreciative of that help, commenting, “With the support and generosity of Curran Plumbing, KidzWish has been able to run its vital support programs, such as: the Life Skills Program, Siblings Program and the Sports Academy Programs at the Croome Road Sporting Complex.”
The programs are part of the KidzWish Foundation mission to “deliver and maintain an inclusive community for families with a need”.
Partnering for good
Julie also believes that, “Curran Plumbing is a unique business and is very special to KidzWish”. Curran Plumbing staff make a point of getting involved in KidzWish programs. She explains, “The Curran Plumbing team consistently volunteer at our events, and it is this camaraderie and shared values that makes our ongoing partnership very special and unique.”
Future programs
Over the next 12 to 24 months the KidzWish foundation will be actively improving lives with the help of sponsors like Curran Plumbing.
Julie explains, “The main focus will be building up support services through online learning and tutoring, behavioural support, information technology platforms, life skills, job and work experience programs and retiree/disability mentorship programs.
“The money raised by Curran Plumbing contributes towards KidzWish hosting more fun, love, and laughter events & programs for the community, such as the recent Drive-In Event held at Shellharbour Airport. The team at KidzWish thoroughly enjoy organising these fun and inclusive events to bring about laughter and joy to the children and families in a safe and fun environment.
“We feel very fortunate as a foundation, to have Curran Plumbing on board as one of our Corporate Sponsors.”
