Curran Plumbing recently ran a promotion to give back to the local community through our Neighbours in Need giveway.  We conducted free plumbing work up to the value of $2000 for two local residents who were nominated as needing a hand by family and friends.  This is their story.
Neighbours in Need Winner #1
Karen Defries was nominated by her daughter Carina as needing a hand.  Karen has recently been caring for her partner Andy as he waited for a liver transplant. Over the past few months Andy and Karen had to relocate to Sydney so he could get ready for the liver transplant operation.  Now that the operation has been completed, Andy and Karen still need to travel to Sydney each fortnight for regular blood tests.
At the same time Karen works night shift at an inbound call centre and spends a large amount of time looking after her 10 grandchildren.
Carina said that she nominated Karen because Karen does so much for her family and friends.
Our technicians John and Jack visited Karen’s home and completed a number of much needed plumbing repairs and replacements. They replaced Karen’s toilet suite in the laundry and also replaced the washing machine taps.
The Curran Plumbing team also gave Karen’s guttering some TLC by removing debris and cleaning the gutter to ensure that water flowed properly.
We’re very pleased that we were able to help a local community member out during her time of need and we hope that this has lifted a small weight off Karen’s shoulders. Below is a photo collage of Karen’s plumbing make-over.
Neighbours in Need Winner #2
86 years young, Heather was nominated by her niece, Sandra.  Heather has been living in her family home for 80 years and she is finding the upkeep on her home including repairs very expensive as money is tight.  While her family help out where they can, Sandra’s partner has only recently secured a job after finding himself unemployed for three years.
Heather also has health issues which severely limit what she is able to do.  Sandra wrote to us because there were a number of jobs that required attention in Heather’s bathroom to make her life a little easier.
Curran Plumbing were very happy to help out, and we replaced the basin and shower tapware in the bathroom.  We also replaced the toilet cistern and repaired the shower waste which was causing water to pool in the shower.  The shower waste had also risen causing a serious trip hazard.
Heather was thrilled with the repairs and we hope that our assistance makes her life a little easier.
